  • What is the difference between wakesurfing and wakeboarding?
The technique is what differentiates wakesurfing and wakeboarding. For wakesurfing, the rider releases the rope to ride out a wake. Wakesurfing is generally easier than wakeboarding as it runs at lower speed and has no tow rope, which means less stress on your knees, arms, back, and shoulders. For wakeboarding, the rider holds a boat-towed rope throughout the duration of the ride.
  • Is wakesurfing/ boarding safe? What safety measures does NewWave take?
On top of ensuring you enjoy an unforgettable, experience on the waves, our First Aid and CPR-trained staff are on hand to ensure the safety of every individual on the water or also to provide you with any assistance you may need. Your safety is our utmost priority!
  • This is my first time wakesurfing/ wakeboarding. What should I wear/take along for my session?
While general swimwear is fine, we suggest swimwear that is more 'secure' for wakeboarding due to the nature of the sport. boardshorts and rash guards, or even one piece swimsuits are usually a good idea for the ladies. Otherwise, pack for a day by the pool or beach! A towel, change of clothes, a bottle of water and sunscreen are good basics!
  • How many sessions would I need before I can do proper wakesurfing/ wakeboarding?
This really depends on the individual. Some take just one lesson while others may take 3 or more lessons. The most important thing is to have a positive attitude and a willingness to just have fun while at it!
  • How long is a single session?
Depending on the size of your group, sessions can take from 2 to 4 hours, or more. A good estimate would be about 20-25 minutes per set per person.
  • What type of equipment does NewWave provide?
We will provide boards, bindings, life jackets and wakesurf ropes/ wakeboard handles. But please feel free to bring your own personal gear and of course drinks of your choice!
